SBW 2012: The home stretch

Now that you’ve almost made it through the entire week (well, officially is has actually been a week, so pat yourself on the back) of Seattle Beer Week 2012, here are a few more additions to my initial post of recommendations. Let me take the time now to say this week has been a lot of fun, there’s been a lot of great beer and the events have been incredible.

Day 9, Friday, May 18:

Sound Brewing @ Hopvine Pub, 7 p.m.
This may be sort of cheating since it’s in my neighborhood, but Hopvine always puts on great brewer’s nights and Sound Brewing is a wonderful new brewery out of Kitsap County. Live music and something special from the kitchen will be included in the fun. Special beers include a keg of WW3, their Tripel Entendre aged for a week in a barrel that had Bainbridge Island Organic Distillery’s Wheat Whiskey in it. Anyone else salivating yet?

Beer Coctails @ Liberty, 8 p.m.
If you’re heading to Hopvine, why not make the trip a couple doors down to Liberty? Ninkasi brewing and Oola distillery present “Beer Cocktails” with Ninkasi founding brewer Jamie Floyd and Oola’s own Brandon Gillespie. Come see how these two beverages can be made into artful cocktails by talented bartenders. My curiosity is peeked, how about yours?

Day 10, Saturday, May 19:

Malt and Vine 5th Anniversary @ The Malt and Vine, All Day
If you’re on the Eastside, be sure to stop by Redmond’s Malt & Vine bottle shop for their 5th Anniversary party. Black Raven has brewed their last three anniversary beers; number four will be an incredibly killer Double IPA using five different new hop varieties! All four years will be on draft. There may be a surprise or two trough the day!

Elysian/New Belgium Collaboration BBQ @ Fiddler’s Inn, 6 p.m.
If you’ve had any of the Elysian/New Belgium collaboration beers, you’ll know they’re damn tasty. So, you can expect that a BBQ that highlights some of the best of this beautiful union will be a killer time. There also promises to be live music, so BBQ + Beer + Music = win!

Day 11, Sunday, May 20:

Beer Lovers Appreciation Day @ Wholefoods, All Day
Okay, this is pretty freakin’ sweet. In honor of Seattle Beer Week and the amazing beer drinking community, Whole Foods all over Puget Sound (ie. any Whole Foods locations in the Puget Sound area) will be offering 20% on all beer purchases Sunday, May 20. Stock those fridges people!

Odin’s Strange Brew @ Central Cinema, 6:30 p.m.
Hey guys, this one is not on the SBW website, so consider this a favor that I’m sharing this secret with you (okay, it’s not that secret). To celebrate the closing of Seattle Beer Week, Odin Brewing will be hosting a viewing of Strange Brew at the lovely Central Cinema. Oh, and there will be beer. Pretty sure you figured that.

And that’s it folks! Of course, my other recommendations still stand from my previous Seattle Beer Week recommendations post from a few weeks ago, so don’t forget about those awesome events. Sunday there will be many BBQs and closer events that you won’t want to miss (hint: if you don’t give your liver a break, it won’t figure out how much you’re hurting it until next week).

Cheers and happy end of Seattle Beer Week 2012!
