Washington Beer Open House Tomorrow

Tomorrow from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., Washington Beer Commission is sponsoring a unique, once-a-year event: The Second Annual Washington Beer Open House. No, this is not an event in which participants converge on one location to sample beers at stations. Rather, this is a yearly craft beer promotional event to encourage Washington beer lovers to get out to breweries near and far. All over Washington, you can visit with your fellow beer advocates, the brewers themselves, take a tour, get to know a brewery (or three), and try something special. Think of it as sort of a craft beer call to action day. Go forth and support your local craft breweries!

Over 30 breweries all over the state will be participating, and each brewery involved will showcase specialty beers (special brews, casks, and so on) as well as provide tours of their brewery (which is not common at many of these breweries, so take advantage). Some locations have created specially tailored menus or will be throwing barbeques to celebrate the event. If you’ve been looking for an excuse to do a little brewery hopping in your neighborhood, or in one of the Seattle neighborhoods that boasts a high number of breweries (such as SODO/Georgetown or Ballard), tomorrow would definitely be the day to execute this plan.

Here is a list of breweries by region that will be participating:

Check out the post earlier this week from Washington Beer Blog, which outlines what some of the special offering will be at the participating breweries. My recommendation is to plan on visiting a brewery that you’ve been meaning to get to, as your experience tomorrow will be quite different than any other day of the year. Hope to see some of you out and about tomorrow. Cheers!
